Jus soli: the principle that a person’s citizenship at birth is determined by the place of birth. The film questions and probes Britain’s attitude towards its black population, placing it in the wider context of what it means to be British.

Ebba and Marius are a couple in their late 20s. They fight constantly even though they love each other deeply and, every New Year’s Eve, they try to break up. Their story is a melancholy comedy about love and dysfunction, told over the course of three years.
