STUDY I AWAKENING

In Peter Weiss’ first study film, a man wakes up and performs, with monotonous movements, the everyday morning routines such as brushing his teeth, smoking a cigarette, and other chores. In Study I the atmosphere is floating between sleep and wakefulness recalling the French surrealist films of the 20s and 30s.

STUDY IV LIBERATION

The idea of the liberation of the self develops and Peter Weiss goes further into a more stylized and dreamlike atmosphere, with surrealistic overtones. The main character moves through different, for him meaningful, places dragging on a shape-shifting something that ultimately proves to be himself.
