THE EDGE OF ALCHEMY
In this handmade film assembled from over 6,000 collages, the actors Mary Pickford and Janet Gaynor are lifted from their early silent features and cast into a surreal epic with an unending of the Frankenstein story and contemporary undercurrents of hive collapse. “The Edge of Alchemy” is the third film in a trilogy examining the psychological terrain of women’s inner worlds.
“Blueberry Spirits” is a poetic documentary about a Roma family that spend the summers in the Latvian forests, picking berries to make a living. While harvesting the fruits of the forest, they reflect on their identity as a group by sharing ghost stories.
RHYTHM OF BEING
For an instant, I am. The light touches me gently and I live, burst and shine. This constant, irreversible, rhythmic drift from being to not. Only the memories left. Escaping desires. The love and the pain. I only have an instant of life. So please. This film is an ode to the rhythm of being.
THE FULL STORY
When the dad next-door walks out, five-year-old Toby discovers that parents can leave. As the shock hits the entire room catapults skywards, morphs in mid-air and lands as a different space. The rooms keep pace with Toby’s volatile emotions as home life spirals out of control in the divorce boom.
In this experimental Western, the poetic meets prosaic via a Victorian travel report written for the purposes of emigration to Texas. An abstract frontier thesis where Western movie tropes and mythologised geographies are navigated through printed matter, race theories, and observations of pioneering life.
