A conversation between artist Akosua Adoma Owusu and Åsa Bharathi Larsson about Owusu’s art and about identity building in postcolonial art practice. Akosua Adoma Owusu is a Ghanaian-American filmmaker, producer, and cinematographer whose award-winning films and installations work to address the collision of identities. Owusu’s works create spaces where feminism, queerness, and African identities interact in African, white American, and black American cultures.
Åsa Bharathi Larsson (Södertörn University) researches nineteenth-century visual culture, Scandinavian colonialism, race, gender, and transnational history.
