HARD ON

I smyg filmar hon allt. I en surrealistisk lägenhet finns en puma, en gäst, ett barn och
löften om en hund om barnet spelar med.

Secretly she is filming everything. In a surreal apartment a cougar, a guest, a child, and promises of a dog if the child plays along.

Joanna Rytel graduated in 2004 from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. She has developed a complex artistry, which always points out our times’ most poignant issues of gender, power, and identity. The festival screened a retrospective of her works in 2013. ATHABASCA

Ett audiovisuellt poem som rör sig igenom ett apokalyptiskt landskap sargat av
våldsamma bränder och en gränslös rovdrift på fossila bränslen. Inspelat under
skogsbranden vid Athabaskas oljefält i Kanada 2016.

An audiovisual poem floating through an apocalyptic landscape devoured by boreal wildfires and the ruthless exploitation of fossil fuels. Recorded at the Athabasca oil sands in Alberta, Canada during the wildfires in 2016.

Philippe Léonard is a media artist working with film, photography and video, conceiving projections for live concerts and working as a cinematographer.


SONJAS GRILL SONJA’S GRILL

På Sonjas Grill i Zinkensdamm sitter Bella och väntar på sin kille Gabbe. När han av
misstag tappar sin telefon i toaletten blir han tvungen att använda en mobil han haft i
byrålådan ett par år. I den hittar han en gammal sms-konversation mellan honom själv
och sitt ex, det sätter saker i ett annat perspektiv för både honom och Bella.

Bella is waiting for her boyfriend Gabbe at Sonja’s Grill. He is late. An old sms-conversation between Gabbe and his ex girlfriend puts their relationship in a new light and an argument between Bella and Gabbe ensues, entirely in rap verse.

VÄGGEN THE WALL

”Vi visste att de byggde något på parkeringen utanför. Vi hade känt hur de pålade och
sett hur dörrkarmen och trapphuset sprack.” I en rappt klippt kortfilm berättar Astrid
Askberger historien om hur det är att få en ny vägg tio meter från sitt fönster.

“We knew they were building something in the parking lot outside. We felt the house shaking and saw how the door frame and the stairwell burst.” In a vibrant short film, Astrid Askberger tells the story of how it feels to get a new wall ten meters from her window.

PAPPA

Filmen handlar om rock & roll mitt i Sovjetunionens brinnande tid där allt från väst
var förbjudet och musik var ansett som propaganda. I slutet av 60-talet blev Anatoli
Abramovitch och hans rockband Star Brothers rockstjärnor i en liten stad på Krimhalvöns heta turistkust. Filmen är också en personlig berättelse om en far och en dotter och konsten att hantera liv, död och allt däremellan.

The film is about rock & roll in at the height of the USSR, where everything from the west was banned and music was marked as propaganda. At the end of the 1960s, Anatoli Abramovitch and his band became huge rock stars in a small, isolated town on a hot, touristy, Crimean coast. The film is also the story of a father and daughter and the art of dealing with life, death, and everything in between.

JAMILA

Jamila ska uppträda i skolan med Maryam och hennes coola kompisar. Inget får
distrahera Jamila idag, inte ens lillasyster Leilas frågor om deras asylansökan. Men
när polisen dyker upp i skolan blir Jamila orolig. Ska hon uppträda och riskera sin och
systerns säkerhet eller lämna skolan och riskera att förlora sina nya vänner?

Jamila and her friends are practicing for the talent show, and nothing can get in the way of Jamila’s focus. Not even her little sister Leila’s question about the family’s asylum case. But when the police suddenly appear at school, Jamila starts to worry. Will performing risk their safety, or should she leave and risk her new friendships?
